Something kinda funny happened today...We got stopped on the side of the road by a group of women admiring Julia. I guess they're not used to seeing natural blondes...they were completely taken by her and were surprised that she was my daughter (I'm definitely not blonde, though I have thought of trying it a few times...). This is just one of the little differences we'll encounter. Everyone here is dark haired, so she stands out everywhere we go. Please pray for Elisabeth and Julia's relationship, as there are some issues that come out of one sister getting much of the attention...especially with Julia being so much more outgoing to start with.
Dan's gone back to work tonight to learn how to close the store...it will take some getting used to, this retail thing! I'm so used to him being home at a certain time, and having the same schedule all of the time...
I've been so encouraged by all of the emails that I've received so far...they have been a real blessing to me. I got the computer today and was reading emails all day, after a whole lot of tears...I miss you guys so much...I was able to breath a lot easier, it feels like a big weight has been lifted, a blanket removed...I feel much lighter. I don't know if you realize how important your prayers and your emails are! I feel so loved! Thank you so, so, so much! I praise the Lord for you!

Greetings from Iqaluit
Hi Everyone,
Well, as Julie's email said the other day, we've made it! What a feeling. I must admit that it is very different here, quite different from anything we've experienced before. We will definitely be adjusting for a while. We don't have a phone yet, and we have a computer connection...but not the computer! It isn't the easiest thing to try to get stuff done here, but we're dealing with it. Everyone at the store is very friendly, we're living in company housing, so we're in a little community of sorts...it will be a challenge to make sure that we actually step out of this community to minister in the larger community, it would be very easy to fall into the trap of just living in the Northwest bubble!
The appartment is great, the kids love their room and we're really well provided for. We're trying to find our way around town, but it isn't easy, we'll figure it out though. Please pray for Dan, as he's already been promoted out of necessity to management, he's got 1 week to learn everything to run 3 convenience stores, cause the other guys are all going on holidays! He's a little overwhelmed! I've got to go, blessings,

I Guess this is really happening
I'm sitting here on the floor in my living room...I have to sit on the floor because we don't have any furniture left. I'm using the kids' old computer that we're giving away (ours has already been shipped to Iqaluit). Our bags are packed, we're sleeping on air mattresses, we've got no food left and we are flying out in 3 days! I feel like I got picked up in a whirlwind and I have barely been able to catch my breath!
Dan and I took a day off from packing and went to Niagara Falls, (I had never been) because we needed the time together, and it's our 10th anniversary next month. Thankfully my best friend Julie (and Tim) took Elisabeth and Julia for the day and night. It was very last minute so it was so great that she could do it...thank you Julie! If you follow the link to Julie's blog, you'll see picture of the girls while they were there. (sooo cute...I know they're my own kids, but I just can't help it... look at them, they're adorable!) We had alot of fun, it was just what we needed! We went on the Maid of the Mist, strolled along the river and through the city (for hours...my legs are sore, there are big hills there!) I almost got a tatoo...I really would have if Dan would had said to go for it, but it's probably a good thing that I didn't... I'm not exactly in that place anymore! The Lord was so good to us the whole time, the weather was perfect, 30 degrees with no humidity, and He gave us a wonderful time of fun and rest with each other.
Now that we're back, it's a little wild. The house is empty, the kids are gone visiting Cole and Santana their good friends, Dan is gone golfing with Jeff and I'm wondering where the last five weeks have gone. I can't even process this right now. I'll have to go and write more later!

The Farewells Begin
Well, I'm back from my week in Espanola (Northern Ontario). I spent most of the time hiding out at my mom and dad's place, enjoying being a little girl again. I did have a lot of good byes to do though, driving around the countryside, with short visits here and there letting people in on what was happening, updating emails to add them to our list and saying goodbye for now to all. My brother Denis and sister-in-law Ann-Marie threw a party for Dan and the girls and I on Saturday night and we had lots of fun, playing horse shoes, singing and laughing a lot. It was bitter sweet for me though, I know it will be at least a year before I see them again. We went to our old church on Sunday and were blessed by the words and encouragement we received.
We left in the afternoon, taking the ferry from South Bay Mouth on Manitoulin Island to Tobermory. It was beautiful and sunny, but I was tired and cranky, all of the emotion catching up with me. I really don't want to be miserable, I'll try harder not to be. The house looks like a tornado went through it, I'll be having to work at the not being miserable part while I try to get some order to it...but it's got to be done, only two weeks to go!
